May Ministry Update

Image
May is finally here!! May is here, May is here May is here!!! The school year is here is now coming to close. Finals are beginning, the weather is warming up, and the apprenticeship is wrapping up.  We had Spring Showcase at the beginning of April and it was such an incredible show. We were able to raise money for our students going to SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry). Thank you so much for everyone who came and supported our students and the vision the lord has given them. Our students and staff will be leaving for Washington on May 10th. Our student leader team was getting very stressed with the semester coming to a close and classes pilling up so we decided to have a fun leader meeting. For fun, we began planning our end of the year formal and had our students get in random groups and come up with an axiom rap. An axiom is a nugget of wisdom that we use to remind and encourage our students in ministry. Some of our favorites are "one on

April Ministry Update

APRIL IS HERE!!! I can't believe it is finally April! This school year has just been flying by and I can't believe we are almost done with the apprenticeship. March was an intense month but such a good one and so I wanted to give you some updates. Because I was recovering from surgery most of this month, I don't have many pictures! :-)  Surgery Update: Well, during spring break, I had surgery to remove my tonsils because they were causing me a lot of trouble. It was my first surgery ever and even though I was a little nervous leading up to it, it went so smoothly. The recovery, however, was not nearly as smoothly. It took me almost 3 weeks to recover. I was told to prepare myself for so much pain and discomfort and I was in no way prepared enough. I would cry because I was hungry, I would cry because I was in pain, and towards the end of my recovery I cried because I just missed being able to see people. About 5-7 days into recovery my pain medicines stopped work

March Ministry Update

WOWWWW, it is already March!!!! Can you believe it? I'm almost positive that it was August just yesterday. Just to give everyone an update, around this time last year, I made a 10 month commitment to do ministry full time from August to the end of May. Here we are, in March. WOW, I can't believe it. It has just flown by and I have been learning so much. As many of you know, I have decided to transition off of our FOCUS staff at the end of May. I have decided to pursue my alternative teaching certification. I am in the process of being certified to teach math and science, grades 4-8.  I am so excited to what the Lord is calling me to after this apprenticeship and I can only hope and pray that he will continue to be faithful, as he has always been, and work through me as I learn how to minister to students, parents, and even fellow teachers. Thank you so so so much for all of your financial support and for all of your prayers. I would not have been able to do this without every s

February Ministry Update

Image
February~ Wow, February is here! January was such a long but good month of ministry. We had our first week of school in Denton and then went straight into Winter Camp for a full four days. Our guest speaker was John Steakhouse and he broke down what it means to be a christian. We had a record breaking attendance of over 600 people at camp. It was so incredible to see the hearts of college students during worship and even during free time. We had a night of lamenting and a few students were asked to share their lament of different things that they have experienced in their life and how God has rescued and redeemed them. A common theme for me during winter camp was just a reminder of just how good our God is. With the death of my dad and just all of the difficult life experiences that followed as a reaction to his death, the Lord has always been SO faithful. I was consistently reminded that not only is there so much power in the name of Jesus, but it's also just such a bea

Happy New Year my friends!!  I hope you all had such a wonderful holiday season! My holidays involved driving back and forth to Austin to visit with my family. We had some much doing all of the holiday things such as: seeing Christmas lights, decorating sugar cookies and making gingerbread houses. Then, I came back to Denton for a few days because my best friends got married!! It was such a sweet ceremony and I cried SO much because I got to see my best friends in the entire world get to make such a holy covenant with each other before the Lord. They have worked so hard in the last few years to work hard at their relationship and really  work to honor God and each other and I have had the honor to watch them grow and be apart of their relationship from start of finish.  I get to work with the best people around! This is the 2018-2019 FOCUS apprentices. I love getting to take classes with these friends. Not only do we get to deepen our relationships with each other

December Ministry Update!

Christmas time is here! It has been a jam packed month with so much happening! WOW, the month of November has been so eventful! Here is snapshot of all the things that went on! Outreach has been so great! In this picture, outreach was organized by our student leaders and they created a prayer board! So as people walked by on campus, we asked them what we ways we could pray for them and were able to pray for them! It was such a sweet moment to be able to hear what the needs of our campus are! It also really pushed our students out of their comfort zone! This is a picture of Orion and I at outreach! We both enjoy fall and crunchy leaves! Orion is a student  leader in my peer team! This girl has been through a lot this semester and she has been doing so great! She leads so well, seeks so much advice, and truly seeks to honor the Lord! Getting to see her grow as a disciple and a leader has truly been a pleasure!  MEGA PEER TEAM: For the first time this semester, all

Fall is here!!! October has been super ham packed! We started the month of with fall camp! All of our Denton FOCUS students went over to Mt. Lebananon and spent just 24 hours away from Denton!  That 24 hours were packed with time with their core, games, snacks, and worship. Fall camp is a great opportunity for new students to really get plugged in and make friends in our community; where friendships are already formed, there is space to deepen those friendships! While there, we had two sermons that introduces our theme of “All In”! We talked about not only do we need to be all in for God, but we also talked about all in being about diversity and just as the kingdom of God is diverse and full of people from every tongue and every nation, we too should be striving to make disciples of all nations! This was one of the many groups of students playing games all weekend! Popular favorite games were: Spicy Uno, Spoons, and Code Names! Such a big part of fall camp w
