August Update

Hey Friends! August is FINALLY here! All of the craziness of the summer is finally beginning to settle as we prepare for welcome week and the start of school. First and foremost, I just want to thank you for supporting me; whether that is financially, through prayer, or both! Thank you so much for choosing to join me in the vision that God has given me for the next school year! I would not be able to do this without you, so again THANK YOU!

Late night game of Werewolf

To begin my apprenticeship, I was officially ordained on July 26th so I am now an ordained campus minister. August 1st marked the beginning of this 10 month adventure. To kick off our year, all of the FOCUS staff and apprentices from all campuses spent time together at staff retreat. (Almost 40 people in total! How incredible!) This retreat consisted of times of worship, time to bond with fellow staff members that we may not know as well, GAMES, and time to spend with the Lord and as well as minister to encourage each other before the year gets going. When we weren't eating, in group sessions, or sleeping, we were playing so many board games. Werewolf was a game that was played just about every night.

We had a time of worship before each of our sessions.

In our times of worship, we gave so much thanks to God for allowing us to do campus ministry and for allowing Him to invite us into his mission in redeeming and renewing the world by starting at the heart of college campuses in the DFW Metroplex. I am so thankful to serve a God that is so gracious and faithful to his promises.

During our free time, most of the staff made a spontaneous trip to a local snow cone stand for something sweet and refreshing!

After a nice restful 4 days at staff retreat, my fellow apprentices and I have officially started our first class. We will be learning about the Old Testament while we read through the entire Old Testament in just a few weeks. Our apprentice team is comprised of so many people with so many different stories and I am so excited to get to know each of these sweet friends as we enter into this apprenticeship together.

Prayer Requests:

As the start of academic year approaches, please be praying for:

  • God to begin planting seeds in the students on our campus so when we meet them, they are so hungry for God, friendship and community and that we would join the Lord where He is already working.
  • Our students and student leaders to be bold in befriending people on campus and in their classes and that they would know the ultimate reward for being bold.
  • The staff and apprentices as we prepare to lead and invest in our students; that we would find times of rest as things become busy.
  • For our campuses, there are so many students that are broken, hurting, and lonely. Pray that they would come to know the healing, peace, and joy that Jesus has to offer us.

Support

Thank you so much for choosing to support me for the next 10 months! Because the school year is beginning, please be sure to send in your donations if you haven't already! You can send them by mailing a check by making it out to "FOCUS" and placing my initials "BF" in the memo line and mailing them to 318 N Shiloh Rd, Garland, Tx, 75042. Or you can go to any focus.org --> donate --> online giving --> to make new contributions click here --> "I'd like to give a gift in honor of" --> then scroll past the campuses to find my name (Brittany Faddis) I am only 82% fundraised so if you know of anyone who would be interested in supporting, let me know!

  1. Hey Brittany, thanks for sharing! So glad that you are on the team and that we got to share staff retreat together. I am praying for you guys as you get started on Old Testament studies! I know it can seem daunting to read so much in such a short time, but I think that experience will really bless you guys as you get to see God at work through the history of His people.
    Love you!
